MEET OUR TRUSTEES
Hazel Warwick

Hazel is an experienced non-executive Chair and has many years of experience across a wide range of business and community sectors.
She is retired and is currently the Chair of a Hampshire-based charity with a turnover of over £1million, providing accommodation for up to 40 formerly homeless people with medium support needs. Hazel has responsibility for risk management and operational delivery for the business for the charity, which includes running three large social enterprise stores, a training woodwork workship, recycling yard and a market garden utilising a large group of volunteers to deliver training, support and income generation. She is also a Trustee of Emmaus UK, a National Homelessness charity, which both receives and distributes grants on an assessed basis. It has a turnover of £3million per annum and leads a federation of over 30 charities (helping nearly 1,000 people per year) and is part of an international movement.
In her professional life she was a Deputy Chief Executive of a large Regional Housing Association, responsible for managing the repairs and maintenance of community buildings, commercial property and 20,000 homes across the South East. During that time, she led multiple significant mixed use regeneration partnerships and projects with multi agency stakeholders, along with the annual delivery of a programme of 1,000 New Homes, funded by Government Grants and private finance (with annual budgets of £90m).
She also has experience in leading a number of private bond issues and innovative financing
programmes within the housing sector to fund expanding development programmes. Until
2023, she was the Chair of Business South, a regional Business engagement organisation working with the public and private sector to promote the South-Central Region for economic investment and growth which has 120+ corporate partners within the Region and which delivers at least 10 corporate events each year to budgets of approximately £200,000 per annum. She is currently the Chair of her local Trefoil Guild,
Programme & Development Advisor for Hampshire East Trefoil Guild and was previously the Chair
of Hampshire East Trefoil Guild.
Vivienne Franklin

Vivienne is a qualified accountant with over 20 years of working at a Senior Management Level in the Charity Sector for both large regional and national charities, having responsibility for financial governance, risk management and grant funding.
Vivienne is experienced in the financial management and in overseeing the financial and risk management aspects of a £5 million turnover business in the not-for-profit sector. She is also experienced in the exploration of new revenue streams and the management of financial reserves, along with securing grant-funding from relevant sector providers.
In her personal life, Vivienne lives in Lyndhurst, the community where Foxlease Park is based, and has been a leader with 1st Lyndhurst Guides and Brownies, who met at Foxlease Park (in its former iteration), for over 20 years. She is passionate about ensuring that Foxlease remains an accessible place for adventures for young people and the wider community for many generations to come.
Emma Stevens

Emma is a Partner in a national, Top-50 law firm, who specialises in advising clients on commercial risk management and dispute resolution of commercial contracts. She has significant expertise in advising clients regarding their high-value corporate, commercial, reptuational management and intellectual property matters. Through her professional role, she has over ten years' experience assessing and advising on risk in the commercial and charitable sectors and in ensuring compliance with regulatory matters, including GDPR and HR matters. She has company secretarial and contractual experience and regularly advises clients as to how best to meet these obligatons and to future-proof against the risks within their own sectors and businesses. Prior to her role at her current firm, she was responsible for the running of a law firm with a £12 million+ turnover, along with her fellow equity partners, including responsibility for directly delivering all aspects of business, risk, HR and staffing management.
Alongside the above, Emma has also held a number of voluntary roles. She was a Trustee of The Guide Association of South-West England (Girlguiding South West England) for nearly 7 years and was the charity's Chair of Compliance, with responsibility for overseeing the charity's governance, risk and property issues (including those associated with the listed building the charity owns in Salisbury). In her role on the charity's Trustee Board she advised on all risk and compliance issues arising in both a strategic and an operational capacity from the management of the 58,500+ members in the Region, the charity's staff and the organisation's delivery of large-scale national and international events.
Emma is a long-term user of the Foxlease Park site (in its previous iteration) for camping and activities with the youth groups that she is involved in running and has experience of organising, promoting and attending events of the nature of those offered at Foxlease.
Sue Groves

Sue has 40 years of experience working in the insurance and financial services industry,
including time working as an Independent Financial Adviser in conjunction with two law firms. Her experience from those roles includes assessing and quoting for buildings, contents and motor insurance policies as well as setting up and administering pension and mortgage schemes.
For two years, Sue has worked at Foxlease Activity Centre (the former name of Foxlease Park) on a voluntary basis providing administrative support, as a consequence of which she has an excellent understanding of the day-to-day running of the site. She has been involved in Girlguiding for over 35 years and has held a number of roles within that organisation within Hampshire. Sue has been directly involved in the management and delivery of the showcase events held at Foxlease each year by Girlguiding and has significant experience organising and running large-scale events and camps (with approximately 1000 attendees at each). Her experience in events management includes planning, preparing and working within budgets, risk assessment, managing teams of volunteers on a large-scale basis and ensuring the successful delivery of events, sometimes in challenging conditions.
Deborah Lafferty

Dr Deborah Lafferty is a historian, previously based at Foxlease Activity Centre (the former name of Foxlease Park). Born in the United States, she holds dual British and American Citizenship and came to Foxlease Park in 2007 as an international researcher.
She was a volunteer at Foxlease Park, in its previous iteration, and a committee member for a number of community organisations that met there, including Friends of Foxlease and Foxlease Singing Circle.
Deborah is an organizer, speaker and programme consultant for Foxlease Park heritage events and
international tours.
In her professional life Deborah was an analytical chemist for nearly 30 years before retiring
and returning to education to complete a PhD in history. Deborah is a life member of the
American Girl Scouts (and more recently a member of Girlguiding). Her vision for Foxlease is
to recover its place as an international destination for members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and to provide a safe space for lively adventures, leisure and learning for the Foxlease Park community users.
Teresa Monks

Teresa has significant experience in the Outdoor Education Sector and in her professional life
she works as a Senior Outdoor Learning Adviser, Duke of Edinburgh Field Officer and Trainer for Hampshire County Council,
advising and guiding schools across Hampshire on adventurous activities, trips and visits, including best practice risk management for outdoor activities. She has extensive knowledge of the qualifications and safety standards needed to safely deliver outdoor activities and assesses third party companies on their safety compliance. She plans and delivers training to teachers and school staff in a wide range of areas related to outdoor learning, activities and adventurous activities in the curriculum, along with first aid. Over the past 3 years she has developed HCC’s training provision for first aid to be a key income generator to the level of
approximately 150 courses a year.
Teresa sits on the New Forest and South Downs National Park Education Forum and the New
Forest National Park Authority Access Forum, representing youth and education. She has been a Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteer for 27 years and is a Duke of Edinburgh Trainer, Supervisor and Assessor and previously ran an open Duke of Edinburgh Centre with responsibility for 15 volunteer leaders. She is the Region Lead Volunteer for Outdoor Activities for Girlguiding South-West England and has planned and led a number of large-scale events each year, including some delivered at Foxlease Activity Centre (the former name of Foxlease Park) utilising its valuable resources and easy access to the local New Forest.
Paul Meacher
Paul is a Chartered Accountant who has been working and advising business and charities of all sizes in the South of England for over 30 years. Until recently, Paul was an Equity Partner in his practice and a business owner with responsibility for staffing, risk management and other commercial matters, along with his partners at the firm. He recently changes his role to retire from client work; however, he remains the practice's Financial Director, responsible for finance and compliance oversight for the practice, on a part-time basis.
During his time advising clients in private practice, Paul had particular expertise in advising clients within the hospitality sector, including clients whose business was in hotels, restaurants and leisure parks.
Paul is a Trustee of Thorner Homes, a role which he has held for over 12 years, in addition to which he is also the current Chair of that organisation. During that time, Paul has overseen the complete rebuild of both of the organisation's sites, projects which involved significant resident and family consultation throughout.
In addition to the above, Paul also sits on the Lyndhurst Parish Council (the town in which Foxlease Park is based), and is a Trustee, volunteer and supporter of a number of other charity organisations in and around Lyndhurst. Although not a current role, Paul was also previously involved with youth activities as a volunteer in Scouting and through this time as a New Forest Duke of Edinburgh award Scheme Assessor.
