It was busy busy busy on site today as our groundworkers broke ground on starting work upgrading our electrical supply to enable us to install some additional things in various buildings and additional external lighting and they finished day 1 of 5 today - they started by The Barn and did such a tidy job backfilling that save for a little bit less grass by the court, it doesn't much look like they've been!
We also had our fire extinguishers across the site serviced for their annual service so that they are good for another year and we're all up to date and we had significant electrical works going on in The Coach House to upgrade the supply in there too. We've assessed some cosmetic improvements to some of The Coach House panelling to bring that back up to scratch and we've planned in some further actions.
We had several prospective bookings come to site to look around and a lovely delivery of some donated items from one of our wonderful supporters. We fixed some small things, like trickle vents and broken clip frames, and some bigger things off the list too. The windows in the Foxlease House courtyard have been sanded down and some re-puttied and undercoated so that those which aren't yet needing significant repair don't decline further.
Our volunteers painted the inside of the Apple Trees shower room to brighten that up ready for its upcoming guests and then they started on the outside of that hut too - there's more painting to do to finish all four sides and we hope that some of out other volunteers attending this week will help us finish that off before the weekend. Meanwhile, we had removal of more barbed wire from around the site and repair of some fencing and we've prepared the first four campsite huts for their boiler servicing happening this week. Our volunteers cut lino for the toilet floors in the Nightingales campsite hut and we've made good progress on making those nicer - we've got some sealing and sticking to do, but we should be able to progress that later this week too ahead of our weekend arrivals.
We've temporarily run out of lino so we'll have to halt progress until we manage to source a further donation from the local flooring place which has been saving offcuts for us but it does seem like it might be a good solution for the toilet floors for this season once complete. They also affixed our new signage to the toilet and shower doors on Nightingale - supplied by our very own Amazon Mountain Range - and progressed some of the further repairs in that hut which are planned to be completed tomorrow.
We had a mini-mountain range delivered towards the mosaic project supplies and the board with its site map drawn on it was cut down to size ready for sealing. We also set up in The Lodge for our first workshop tomorrow morning.
Ticking more things off the list tomorrow, Love Foxie x
