Day 6 - The end of the countdown, Foxie's first volunteer and the bucket of mud.
There was lots going on today at Foxlease Park. The Foxie Crew (and the Team in the background) were prepping final steps for the end of the bookings countdown launch this morning and the system went live as planned....or at the most a minute later than planned as the telephone rang as we needed to click the go live button. Our hugest thanks possible to Alison, Zoe and Iain who have moved the earth and spent more hours collectively than we want to think about counting over the last couple of weeks to ensure that our system was ready to go as planned for all of you lovely people wanting to book. We're really pleased with the steady number of bookings we've received on the first day of launch and we're hoping for lots more over the next few days and beyond now that we're live.
In the midst of the go-live launch our first non-trustee/committee member volunteer arrived and we're grateful for her patience as our volunteer guinea pig in advance of bigger numbers arriving tomorrow and ahead of the many more of you who we are in the process of scheduling in. Sue made friends with Henry (the hoover) and The Rug Doctor and between the three of them made very short work of cleaning what was the old staff lounge in the Main House - the photo evidence is in the slides (who knew that sofa was blue??!!). The furniture looks like you'd actually want to sit on it again, and the Foxie Crew did for the photograph - while The Rug Doctor has some more work to do on the carpets, the progress today is a huge tick off the list for that set of rooms.
Other cleaning progress was made elsewhere in the Main House (also by Sue, but a different one!) in the bar, where a thorough clean of the flooring produced a bucket of mud and a much lighter floor than we thought it was. We obviously knew all the floors would need cleaning but we suspect, based on today, that there might be some more mud-production/colour-change magic in our future when that occurs. As it turns out, the floor isn't lava at Foxlease Park, it's mostly mud!
In other news, sunny skies over the site all day, we still can't quite work the heating system (but lovely Andy the boiler expert dropped by this morning and is working on it for us) and the Amazon mountain range continues to grow!
More shiny surfaces expected tomorrow and more updates soon, Love Foxie x
