Day 10 - When the path became clearer and the great planter round-up!
Day 10 - When the path became clearer and the great planter round-up!
We took advantage of the sun today to dry some of the curtains in the sun outside during the time it was out and Andy our volunteer boiler expert returned for further investigations (we're getting there)!
We had less external volunteers on site but more trustees and committee members working hard to finish some of the jobs started this week. The fraying carpet in the Accessible Suite had a haircut with scissors to tidy it up and The Rug Doctor made a return visit for part 2 of the carpet cleaning needed to finish that. We've added new sheets to the Amazon Wishlist to make sure the Accessible Suite is fully kitted out to welcome more overnight volunteers when we reach that point. The singing washing machine continues to work hard.
We took a walk round the outside of Foxlease House to check on some window fixings today too and identified a small broken pane for repair, which we'll try to arrange soon - it was a good chance to take pictures from the back of the house though. Other action was mostly outside today, with a further cut of The Walled Garden space which smelled lovely (sadly we can't bottle it for you!) and also efforts to corral the planters and pots from around the site so that we can give them some TLC and clear out the dead plants to make them nice and fresh again. There was also considerable effort made to cut back, cut out and clear the pathway round the side of Foxlease House to The Sundial Garden and the rear entrance to The Accessible Suite, more photos tomorrow when we finish that off! No photos of the foxie crew today unfortunately - it wouldn't have been safe for them to ride along with the outdoor action.
Two of our supporters who are running a wreath-making workshop on Sunday came by this afternoon to collect some genuine Foxlease Park foliage to use during the workshop - it doesn't get more authentic than that and it's the second best thing to being here! We hope that next year we'll be able to offer similar workshops on site but for now we understand that there are still some spaces on the 1st December AM workshop and that the workshop the following week on 8th December is very nearly full, which is amazing!
Weather permitting, more outdoor progress tomorrow, Love Foxie x
