Day 38 - Twixmas at Foxlease Park (or Foxie's Barn Revival)
Day 38 - Twixmas at Foxlease Park (or Foxie's Barn Revival)
Twixmas began at Foxlease Park today (for the uninitiated, "twixmas" is the period between Boxing Day (Foxing Day) and the end of the year) and we had 25 volunteers working hard on site to help us making good progress before our insurance inspection at the start of the year and the start of our phased opening in mid-February.
We had tonnes of activity going on all over the site - too much to document today in photo form due to upload limits on the blog so we'll share some of it tomorrow and focus on The Barn's Revival going on today. As you can see from the photos, the kitchen in The Barn was in a bad way, with the floor carpeted with a significant layer of mud; mould and heavy dust everywhere, so much so that it resembled its namesake building far more than we'd have liked! But, after an intense day's scrubbing and mould removal from our amazing volunteers on site, that is no longer the case and it is shining so much it probably deserves a rename - The Cleanest Barn There Ever Was! - but it's probably a bit long as names go, so we'll just stick with The Barn. Nonetheless, a fantastic first deep clean for us to build on in the coming weeks before opening.
The kitchen at The Barn was far from the only hive of activity, with all of the curtains removed in The Barn to and the main hall given a good clean (photos tomorrow), Mt. Barn Curtains is a temporary institution in the Foxlease Park Mountain Range whilst The Singing Washing Machine does its thing and it's been tuneful on site today, with more songs to come tomorrow as it washes away the dirt and freshens up the curtains.
We had more serious cleaning going on on site with drain clearance and descaling at The Lodge - no photos yet, but it's starting to sparkle. We also had a tree-mendous group of skilled volunteers helping us with resolving some long-fallen trees on the site to enable us to remove them and to repair the fences which are damaged due to tree interference and we're so grateful to them for giving up their time today and helping us out.
And as if all that wasn't enough, we've also had further rubbish clearance going on to help us clear more of the site.
Sourcing more mould cleaner tomorrow, Love Foxie x
