Day 66 - When Foxie inspected the hot water supply in The Barn (or the day the drains were cleared)
Day 66 - When Foxie inspected the hot water supply in The Barn (or the day the drains were cleared)
A cause for celebration in The Barn today, as the plumbing wizards from Normans all but finished the installation of the new hot water tanks and system in The Barn and doesn't the new tank insulation look shiny! They've been working hard for us to upgrade and replace everything that wasn't working or wasn't as efficient as we'd like. In our longer-term plans we'll need to look at adding insulation in the roof of The Barn to make sure that we're as energy efficient as we can be but we'll be planning that in. For now, we're enjoying the hot water on demand and the heating system which was installed just prior to the December break. We'll be letting volunteers loose in The Barn again from tomorrow to catch that up with The Lodge in terms of the cleaning and re-decorating tasks in there.
The Lodge is looking good with only minor things to go and some more of those were ticked off today, some replacement sealant, removal of outdated fittings like the hand sanitiser units and some further deep cleaning, including removal of some rather icky drain build up in the showers for which the PPE mountain's products were put to good use! We also relabelled the fire signage and ran another set of emergency lighting checks to ensure everything is as it should be and to make sure that we have a number of people on our volunteer team who know how to check and record the necessary weekly checks.
Elsewhere, we had lots going on in the office with preparation of flyers for upcoming events, advertisements for Foxie's Barn Dance and Raffles, responses to bookings emails, financial reconciliations and risk assessment reviews. Setting things up involves a LOT of paperwork and we're so grateful to everyone behind the scenes helping with that, particularly our Committee Members who have been working exceptionally hard for us to produce what's needed in record time.
We're pleased to report that the named storm passed Foxlease Park by, although it was a bit blustery at times, and in other progress, the previously difficuly to lift old carpet from The Gatehouse was removed to make more space for our volunteers when they come to visit.
Setting to again in The Barn tomorrow - look out for transformations coming your way in there soon! Love Foxie x
