Our group of volunteers on site today braved the damp and chilly weather to help us make the arrival from the car park look much more welcoming by rediscovering the steps for us and cutting back the edges all round them and along the side of Foxlease House.  They also tackled cleaning the telephone box for us, inside and out, to start the process of bringing it back to its formerly smart glory.  Judging by the size and scale of the cobwebs inside it before they started work, during the period whilst the site was closed, no one has been taking or making calls in there except some very busy spiders.

We spent some time sorting further inherited paperwork to help us get to grips with some bits of the site where we think action is needed and some schematics would help and thanks to Volunteer Wendy we found some of what we were looking for!  We also found some lovely plans to add to our collection and we'll be thinking of the ways we can use them in the future.

Emma and Wendy spent some time dominating the on-site radio waves as they tried to identify which trip switch on our 14 or more distribution boards was the right one to turn off the misbehaving light up in the North Wing of the House (although they only knew about 5 of them when they started) and thankfully, it was a much speedier job than they thought and they hit the jackpot after two and a half boards worth of switches!  Riding high on the waves of their success, they used the extra time to go and install a second flood barrier at the back door of The Barn.  There are plans for it to be replaced soon which will resolve the issue entirely but in the meantime flood prevention is key to avoid having to clean the back hall and kitchen again.

Activity tomorrow depends upon the weather but we're expecting the driveway to be in its snowdrop road phase as it was nearly there today; we'll let you know, Love Foxie x
