Day 75 - Step this way...(or another visit from the Paint Fairy!)
Day 75 - Step this way...(or another visit from the Paint Fairy!)
Day 75! Three quarters of the way through our first 100 days blog already and where did that time go???
We're now just under two weeks away from our first on site booking and just under three weeks until our first over night stays in The Lodge and The Barn, the first of the buildings on site to open and we are working hard to get through the to-do list to make sure things start strong at the standard which we want them to. As of this week, Foxlease Park is officially on the Girlguiding Adventure Map following the inspections at The Lodge and we're lining up The Barn to follow the same path over the next week or so.
We had flooring contractors in today from Compass Projects, who did us a HUGE favour by getting the guys to come out on a Sunday to fit us in in time for our planned opening - the showers in The Lodge have never looked so nicely finished! They'll be back for the final bits later this week. We've also got some very small bits in there to finish off now that the Amazon Mountain Range has stocked up with Mt. DIY in the last few weeks - the door escutcheons and finger plates really are the final touches in The Lodge ready to go, along with a few token foxes, of course, and the clocks that have een purchased.
Our volunteer team this morning picked up where yesterday's team left off and successfully rediscovered the missing second set of steps from the car park, which prior to the team starting work, were mostly identifiable only by the handrail. As it turns out the steps are actually pretty wide and were just hiding really well in the overgrown grass and so they are now much safer to use again and a great way to avoid some of the mud on the way out of the car park. They finished so quickly too that they were done with the steps and adjacent edge tidying by lunchtime and then moved on to restocking The Lodge Kitchens for us from Mt. Kitchenware (currently residing in the Delivery Store, next to Mt. Cardboard and also to helping us to prep The Barn for further painting tomorrow by removing some errant cobwebs. They also set to work with some magic sponges from the Laundry Store which really do do wonders for removing all sorts of marks from the walls and avoiding the need to repaint in some places.
We had a critical assessment of the progress in The Barn to plan the coming week in order to ensure that we get everything done to the current timeline and then we had another unexpected visit from The Paint Fairy (known in her daily life as Janine) who has very kindly given us a further stock of paint from her Wickes Store's community donations - more lovely indoor paint which we'll be using straight away in The Barn and also some exciting colours of outdoor paint too which we'll be thinking of some plans for when we get past our immediate critical path.
We also took a quick walk up the drive to video The Snowdrop Road which is coming in nicely this year and the video is available to see on Foxie's YouTube Page now - it really does look very special at the moment.
Looking forward to the coming week's progress, Love Foxie x
