Day 77 - It was a dark and starry night over Foxlease Park (or survey results day)
It's a dark and starry night over Foxlease Park this evening - apologies for the terrible quality phone photos but the stars are truly spectacular as always and a reason in themselves to winter camp at the site! (P.s. if we have any experts in astronomy or astrophotography, we'd love to hear from you!)
We've a lack of new photos today as we've simply been too busy with jobs and contractors and then an evening Trustee Meeting, so please enjoy an unrelated photo of Foxie's Friend, Robin, who frequents the wall of the Sundial Garden and is friends with our skip rummaging squirrels, Sasha and Sam. It wasn't taken today but earlier this week.
We had one group of volunteers on paint duty in The Barn and the back rooms are nearly finished now, along with some of the doors and the hatch in The Barn being refitted. We also had hard work happening in The Lodge, stripping back the floors before they are resealed and also with touching up the blue paint on some of the doors in there as one of the finishing off jobs.
Also on site today we had volunteers with the New Forest National Park service who were mapping Rhododendron for us in advance of a further project to help us cut some of it back to stop it from taking over and stilfling its neighbour plants on site - we're really excited about our future volunteering partnership with that team.
Contractor-wise, we had final works in The Barn to the showers and vent cleaning in the kitchens in The Lodge and The Barn ready for their future guests. We also had some of our various survey assessments back from our asbestos surveys across the site and we're delighted to share that we're asbestos-free in our residential accommodation buildings (which are the commissioning reports we've had back so far) which is another tick off the compliance jobs list. We're expecting to hear back with reports from our External Fire Risk Assessor soon following his visit earlier in the week but we're expecting all good things based on our post-inspection chat.
Lots more visitors expected on site tomorrow for more commissioning sign offs, Love Foxie x
(P.p.s. please forgive any typos at a higher than usual quantity; Emma took her lenses out before realising her glasses are in the Site Office...not ideal for typing.)
