Day 86 - When Foxie sees clearly now the panes have gone (or when Foxie became an honorary Hampshire Scout for the afternoon)
A busy day today as we prepare for the arrival of our first booking, as you may be able to tell from the time of the blog!
Lots going on on site - we still have electricians carrying out compliance checks in various places and other compliance contractors due tomorrow.
Our volunteers worked hard in The Barn; painting the kitchen pantry and prepping the main kitchen for painting tomorrow. More cleaning and stripping back of floors throughout the building and Mt. Cleaning from the Amazon Mountain Range has really come into its own, along with paint stripper to remove some of the last of the paint on the flooring outside of the Main Hall, which doesn't belong there. We had the last of the light fittings cleaned and lots of equipment moved back from The Barn to the relevant stores.
The window panes in The Barn front doors which needed replacing were fitted for us by Volunteer Pete and they look great, no cracked glass remaining and all either safety filmed or, in the case of the new panels, laminated safety glass. Definitely a good job jobbed today (although we weren't convinced the new panes were going to fit for a moment...but they did) and once the putty has set they can be painted in a few weeks' time. The Main Hall fire doors also had checks and attention to make sure they are as freely moving as they should be.
Elsewhere, we had the hallway by the Site Office cleaned, the outdoor toilet block doors cleaned and repainted and the old notice board frames on the end of the Main House removed ready for the wall to be cleaned. Back in the Site Office we gave PAT-rick a whirl and tested all the equipment for the quiz next week so we're ready to go!
More taps were descaled and Legionella Risk Management Training was completed - fire pits and trolleys were moved out on site ready for our upcoming guests and we really are getting ready for action - it's so exciting!
This afternoon we had a visit from Hampshire Scouts and Ferny Crofts, to discuss furture partnership and support and Foxie was made an honourary scout through a necker loan for the afternoon. Ferny Crofts is now also the proud owner of its own Foxie necker-wearing Foxie, who is going on a little photo shoot there next week to start out "travelling Foxie photo wall" for us. We're really grateful for the support and look forward to working with the Hampshire Scouts and Ferny Crofts Team in the coming months.
We've run out of day for more today, so we'll start again tomorrow, Love Foxie x
