Day 91 - When Foxie waved "bye bye" to Baby Skip #2 (or Deep Cleaning Day).
Day 91 - When Foxie waved "bye bye" to Baby Skip #2 (or Deep Cleaning Day).
Lots happening again today as we prepare for our first Foxie-run on site event and we prepare for the next phase of bookings this weekend.
We're pleased to report that The Barn is drying out nicely following the plumbing repair in there yesterday and that Foxie would no longer be able to kayak in the toilet in there. The Barn had super amounts of attention from our Volunteers Jacqueline and Fiona who spent the day dismantling, cleaning and reassembling the radiators in The Barn to clean inside and behind them and they removed tonnes and tonnes of dust and 1 errant pair of socks which had clearly been there for some time. They worked really hard and to clean all of the radiators in there took all day.
We had some more electrical works on site ticked off the list, we waved goodbye to Baby Skip #2 and thanked it for its dedicated service to Foxie's cause, and we met with several other contractors and partners for quotes around the site, including for management of some of the trees (bonus photo of some of our deer little friends at the top of the site).
We also had a team of Volunteers, Janet and Penny, working hard cleaning The Coach House from top to bottom for its second deep clean ready for the next phase of works. Volunteers Gordon and Paul dropped in to remove some of the metal fittings in the Main Hall and the old cooker, ready for collection and The Coach House is inching closer to looking ship-shape and ready for sea (or guests).
Gordon and Paul then moved on to other tasks in The Lodge (notice boards and clock in the upstairs kitchen, one minor lock repair, and the removal of the mirrors in the shared shower rooms ready for some painting. We also applied some additional signage throughout the building and then Viv moved her equipment into the kitchen ready for quiz preparations tomorrow and chilli cooking to take place for our 80 guests. They had a super busy day with us and managed to move on in their jobs list to fencing repairs and interim maintenance up the main drive.
Volunteers Angela and Claire spent their time in far flung places on site and worked their way around the Nightingale, Orchards and Apple Trees Campsite Huts, assessing works needed and clearing and repairing the guttering from the supplies on site to start getting the Huts ready for their first occupants in a month or so's time and it's so exciting to br progressing towards the camping season.
We also prepped the shop for tomorrow, sorted some additional paperwork in the office (with some interesting finds in the old records from Volunteer Eleanor, which gave us a bit of a giggle - who knew the site once had an arrangement with a zoo for collection of tiger fertiliser??). We also started making our list to contact those who've named a (cartoon) snail for April's snail racing event and there are some great submissions so far - there's still time to sponsor one if you haven't yet and if you name a winner then there's a small prize.
We might have achieved more that we've forgotten but it certainly felt like a busy one!
Final preparations to make sure we're quiz-ready tomorrow for a Foxie's Big Quiz in person and online for those attending, Love Foxie x
