It was another fix-it day for Foxie on site today as our team started by collecting up the red bags of branches and cuttings from the driveway so it's now looking nice and clear again and then they laid some additional matting around our front barrier to reduce further the muddy patches where people walk to open and close it. The wet weather and higher traffic on site have combined to make things muddy again in places and this is a good remedy to this.
We've had notifications that two of our new cookers are on their way later this week thanks to significant donations and fundraising to the cause for those unexpected costs. We've got a few people who pledge to support those purchases to collect from but one was fully paid by an amazing fundraiser and we're waiting to hear what that cooker's new name will be when it arrives!
We had a few other doors which were misbehaving in the wetter weather this week and which needed some attention, one in The Barn (now resolved after Volunteer Gordon had words) and a couple of others which open onto the Foxlease House Courtyard, including our beautiful Georgian Laundry door. It's been behaving just fine, but in the recent weather it decide it was going to be difficult about opening and also that it was going to set its handle free to spin and start coming away from the door (entirely defeating its intended purpose). Gordon did try talking nicely to it, as that worked once before, and that combined with some attention and a new replacement handle clearly won it over as it is now opening and closing splendidly again. We've got further attention to give it in time, some new paint and similar, but for now it seems happy again.
We've had some time checking out the campsite huts on the Link Fields site and we've got two smaller roofs needing attention and some repair work to do before we repaint. We're keen for them to be better than ever so we've got a phased plan to complete the works across the campsites over the coming few weeks, alongside the further work to ready The Coach House for its opening.
We had further curtain sewing in The Barn and the floors were cleaned in The Barn bedrooms, kitchen and hallway by our hardworking volunteers Jacqueline and Corinne. We've got a plan for sealing them but they've done so much cleaning over the last few weeks that we've nearly killed off Mt. Cleaning's supply of floor products so we've added more wishes for those today to stock us up for the next steps next week to make sure the newly blue floor stays its beautiful blue!
This evening we had a lovely parcel arrive will all of Foxie's new Foxlease Park badges which will be in our on site shop very soon!
Curtain action in The Barn tomorrow, Love Foxie x
