Day 14 - The day Foxie reached new heights (and depths of cleaning) and when Mt. Bedlinen arrived.
We're officially two weeks in and just under 11 weeks to go until we re-open....Aaaaah! in all the ways!
Terrifyingly close to our next step on one level, with time whizzing by fast, and on the other, SO exciting that we've come so far in the last 10 weeks. Our Teams on site are making great progress; the contractors (with no further grass issues from today's delivery) are still working hard to get The Barn to the toasty warm state we want it to be in when we re-open and are due to be on site for at least the next few weeks.
We started the day thinking we'd overworked the singing washing machine as it was sat in a puddle, which turned out to be The Rug Doctor having a bit of a leaky moment (perhaps also due to overwork!) but that is hopefully now resolved. We had lots of fantastic offers of support today in lots of different ways to help us with some of the practical issues we've encountered. - we've had a very kind offer of glass donation for the cracked window in The Accessible Suite (Ali Mac) and we've found a volunteer to fit it. We've had other offers to assist with discounted rates on things like some of our waste removal and if we call out with a problem our fabulous supporters are there with suggestions and connections to try to help us out - it's just amazing and we're so grateful for our Foxie's Family!
Mt. Bedlinen joined the Amazon Mountain Range this week, as did Mt. Microwave, with two nice and new for The Lodge and The Accessible Suite and others still on the list to replace our other needs. Our fantastic volunteers did a further deep clean of The Accessible Suite and replaced the shower fittings and donned gloves for some serious descaling action in the Suite's bathroom - shiny results awaited tomorrow....
Foxie and the Team reached new heights inside The Lodge, where another six of our volunteers worked hard to deep clean the top floor of the building, right down to cleaning every hole in the bannisters! We just need to move The Rug Doctor in to the house (The Lodge), when it's in a better mood, and it should be sparkling clean, leaving us 11 weeks to complete any repairs and redecoration needed. We still need to source some new white goods for some of the kitchen spaces but the progress in that building, inside and out, is looking great. The floor was clean enough outside following yesterday's cleaning for Foxie to sit on without a speck (see photo) and we haven't really hit the outside hard yet, that's still to come.
We've got a giant skip arriving on Thursday to clear away some of the rubbish in storage on site and in various buildings and we're hoping that the groups later this week will help us clear what we need to and will either finish the deep clean of The Lodge and/or the first clean of The Coach House. We're also on the hunt now to find a friendly roofer who can assist us with repairing some tiles on the roof of The Coach House so that we can get that repaired before the winter really hits and/or more rain arrives as it's a bit leaky at the moment and we have to remember to empty the bucket when it rains - we're doing ok so far, but it would be good to have one less thing to remember on the list!
We'll let you know if The Rug Doctor is in a better mood tomorrow, Love Foxie x
