Our days at Foxlease Park so far have started with at least one volunteer going on a personal scavenger hunt (to which no one knows the answers) to try to find the thing we've realised we need and this morning was no different!  The frozen snow melt from yesterday left us with lots of icy surfaces so we spent the start of the day hunting to see what grit supplies we had; the answer being....not enough...

Two of our Committee Members spent the majority of the day working hard to ensure that our interim booking system is ready for our go-live date on Monday next week.   Although the site is very familiar to lots of us, there are so many details to be considered at every stage of every process and system we're putting in place from the ground up.  The fire safety capacity of some of our spaces was the name of the game for part of the morning, which involved measuring different spaces around the site to calculate capacity - Foxie's newest unit of measurement is the size 5 measuring boot, each one in the pair a 30cm length from toe to heel, which proved handy when crunching around to measure the size of long spaces in the icy remains outside.  We did also use the more standard tape measuring approach to doorway spaces, no two of which appear to be the same!  Great progress was made and icy deer hoof prints discovered in the process, which was lovely.

Foxie also met The Rug Doctor, our newly assembled carpet cleaning marvel - we won't show you the colour of the water when the Doctor's work was done, as it wasn't pleasant, but it definitely made a visible difference to the test area of carpet cleaned in the Accessible Suite in the main house (known to many as Ali Mac).  We're looking forward to more sparkling carpets appearing soon now that The Rug Doctor is ready for action!

Our afternoon ended with a different kind of Foxlease Park magic today when an initial call about his offer to volunteer with us to an electrician-skilled volunteer, who we're referring to as the electrician magician,  resulted in him being available on site at EXACTLY the right time we were having an electrical issue we couldn't solve in one of the outbuildings - he appeared on site like an actual magician and very kindly gave us his time to help us resolve the issue.  We definitely weren't going to manage that today without him as if he hadn't appeared we'd still be searching folders for the right schematic drawing to look at for clues.

Fundraising in Chandler's Ford tomorrow but more magic on site soon, Love Foxie x
