Day 47 - When Foxie met some Tech friends (or when descaling was the name of the game).
Day 47 - When Foxie met some Tech friends (or when descaling was the name of the game).
A very soggy day on site today with torrential rain - we're very pleased that The Coach House roof hole was successfully medium-term repaired yesterday by our fantastic roofers as that meant one less bucket to empty today. The wet weather does mean that drying things out, particularly carpets, is proving problematic, so we'll be having to invest in a few more industrial de-humidifiers to help us with that.
Blinds were fitted in The Gatehouse, moving it ever closer to volunteer-accommodation perfection and our IT experts, volunteers Jim and Sandra, finished of their hardwiring and other tech things of our internet so that Foxie can be truly online in more of the Main House - they also brought their mascots Tech Duck and Tech Squirrel to meet Foxie (see photo).
All the holes in The Barn have now been filled following the recently completed heating works, ready for painting and touch-ups and that building is drying out nicely. We still have some repairs to do at the back of The Barn to make sure that it's water-tight but those actions are in progress too and we hope to have that resolved soon.
We also had some seriously industrial cleaning activity happening in The Lodge today with our fab team of volunteers in there doing further descaling of the showers which despite the previous works in there remains a pretty heavy duty task. Armed with brushes and limescale remover the Team working in there spent the day scrubbing from top to bottom and removing gunk and grime with satisfying progress and results.
More cleaning tomorrow, and all being well some minor plumbing fixes too, Love Foxie x
